The future of construction starts here
We bring innovation to everything we do — empowering the builders of North America to advance how we build and live. We understand the entire building lifecycle and harness our broad range of experts and technologies, advanced materials, open innovation ecosystems, and scale to optimize every build.
Our innovation blueprint
Our R&D approach starts with our team of experts covering all fields of construction. To scale up our impact we foster an open innovation ecosystem, from start-ups to universities.
Research & Development
We push the boundaries of what's possible to advance building technologies from foundation to rooftop. Our experts span from masons, engineers and material scientists, to experts in AI and data mining.
Academic partnerships
We partner with leading academic institutions and the most advanced Building Technology Labs across North America, from MIT to McGill to scale up our impact.
Open innovation and ventures
With our corporate venture capital and open innovation unit we invest and partner with startups and incubators to advance construction.
Our Partners
Partnering to build the future
In addition to integrating sustainability into our products and services, we help foster broader collaboration and innovation among our partners. We are also working with leading construction sector startups to reinvent how the world builds for a net-zero and sustainable future.
Plantd
Amrize invested in Plantd, a startup founded by former SpaceX engineers, to help innovate and scale a next generation of structural building panels made from fast-growing perennial grasses. Together with our OX Engineered Products team, we’re co-engineering an advanced four-in-one wall system that is stronger and more moisture-resistant than traditional wood-based products. This is our innovation strategy in action: partnering early, scaling what works, and bringing next-generation materials from the lab to the jobsite. Learn more.
Meta AI
Our open-source collaboration with Meta’s Adaptive Experimentation and Physical Modeling teams is developing artificial intelligence tools to optimize the design, production and delivery of low-carbon concrete. This will further reduce its carbon footprint and improve process efficiency, precision and speed, while setting an example for AI-driven sustainable construction. The rust belt is now the tech belt — see where digital innovation is driving physical construction.
Helping Amazon meet its sustainability goals
Amrize’s collaboration with Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund has led to collaborations in several startups like 3D printing services and others to advance sustainable building. Our partnership with Amazon has accelerated the adoption of our most advanced concrete for use in several of the company’s data centers, notably in Northern Virginia for Amazon Web Services (AWS), to help meet sustainability goals verified by Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). Sublime Systems
Sublime Systems, a leading low-carbon cement technology startup, uses clean electricity and carbon-free raw materials for cement production through an electrochemistry process that avoids a tremendous amount of pollutants, including CO2. This cement’s crystal structure is different from the OPC produced in a fiery kiln, but its performance and hardened phase in concrete are the same, enabling architects and engineers to specify it into building construction like they typically would. In waterfront public spaces, it’s possible to strengthen flood protection and enhance community access with the right products.
